Integrations

Connected to the system that holds the balance

Everything painful about government payments comes from the gap between the system that knows what a resident owes and the system that takes their money. Closing that gap is the whole point of an integration.

However your system of record is built

We have experience with integrations via web and cloud-based interfaces, client-server, hosted, on-premises, SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, mainframe and more.

Web and cloud-based APIs

The most common pattern: a real-time API call reads the balance and posts the completed payment back to the system of record.

Client-server and on-premises

Systems that live inside the jurisdiction's network are connected through the access pattern your IT department is comfortable with.

Hosted and SaaS/PaaS/IaaS

Vendor-hosted platforms are integrated through their published interfaces, with the vendor involved where a three-way agreement is needed.

Mainframe

Older systems of record are not a blocker. We have delivered mainframe integrations and will scope yours the same way.

File-based exchange

Where a real-time interface isn't available, scheduled file exchange keeps balances current and posts payments on your cadence.

Standalone

Where no integration is practical, the non-integrated option delivers the same portal, channels, security and reporting without one.

System types we connect to today

Rather than publish a vendor list that goes stale, we'll confirm your specific product and version during discovery — and tell you plainly if we haven't built it yet.

Case management

Municipal, state and county court systems, probation and code enforcement.

Utility billing & CIS

Water, sewer, sanitation, gas and electric billing platforms.

Tax & digest systems

Property tax billing, CAMA and distribution systems.

Motor vehicle

State and county tag and title systems.

Permitting & land management

Building, zoning, right-of-way and community development platforms.

Licensing

Business, occupational, alcohol and animal licensing systems.

Recreation management

Program registration, facility scheduling and membership systems.

Financial & ERP

General ledger, fund accounting and reconciliation exports.

Data flows both ways

An integration that only pushes payments out is half an integration. Balances have to come back, or residents pay the wrong amount.

Read from your system

  • Current balance due
  • Due dates, penalties and interest
  • Account, parcel, citation and permit identifiers
  • Status flags that should block payment
  • Payer name and service address

Write back to your system

  • Payment amount, date and time
  • Channel used and reference number
  • Fund and department codes
  • Payer details captured at checkout
  • Voids and refunds with audit detail

Integration questions

What systems do you integrate with?

More than 40 third-party systems are integrated in production across case management, utility billing, tax, permitting, licensing and financial platforms, with 100+ total solution integrations delivered.

What integration methods do you support?

Government Window has delivered integrations across web and cloud-based APIs, client-server, hosted, on-premises, SaaS/PaaS/IaaS and mainframe environments.

Does data flow both ways?

Yes. Balances are read from the system of record so payers see current amounts, and completed payments post back so the record is updated.

How much work is this for our IT department?

Typically a point of contact, access coordination and testing participation. Government Window's team performs the integration development and testing.

Can we export to our general ledger?

Yes. Reconciliation files can be exported or delivered on a schedule in formats your financial system accepts, with fund and department detail preserved.

Tell us what you run. We'll tell you what's involved.

Name your case management, billing, tax or permitting system and we'll tell you whether the integration already exists — and what implementation looks like either way.
