The problem

What utility billing offices are actually dealing with

Before the features, the operational reality. If these don't sound familiar, the rest of this page probably isn't for you.

  • 01

Every cycle brings a phone queue

Bill drop is followed by three days of calls asking for balances, due dates and whether a payment posted.

  • 02

    Delinquency drives disconnects

Residents miss due dates because the only reminder is a paper bill that arrived two weeks ago.

  • 03

Drop-box and lockbox payments arrive out of order

Batches from multiple channels land on different days, so the billing office reconciles the same cycle three times.

  • 04

Card fees eat into the utility fund

Absorbing merchant fees on high-volume, low-value bills is a real budget line — and one enterprise funds feel first.

The solution

How Government Window handles utility bill payments

Configured to your business rules, integrated with your system of record, and reconciled the way your office already works.

  • Autopay and scheduled payments

Residents enroll once and are charged automatically each cycle, with an emailed notice before every draft. Enrollment is self-service and cancellable at any time.

  • eBilling that replaces paper

Deliver the bill by email or text with a direct pay link. Every reduction in print-and-mail volume is a hard cost saved.

  • Text2Pay reminders before the due date

Automated SMS and email reminders go out on your schedule — before due date, at due date, and before disconnect — each with a one-tap payment link.

  • Saved accounts and wallets

The resident account portal stores service addresses and payment methods so repeat payers finish in seconds rather than re-keying an account number every month.

  • One deposit, one reconciliation

Online, IVR, counter, mobile and recurring payments settle into a single ACH deposit and a single reconciliation file matched to your utility billing system.

  • Non-payment workflows

Configure penalties, reconnect fees and partial payment rules so the portal enforces the same policy your counter staff does.

Integrations

Connected to the systems you already run

With 100+ solution integrations delivered and 40+ third-party systems connected in production, most implementations for utility billing offices are a configuration rather than a development project.

Voice of the customer

In their words

What utility billing offices say about running payments on Government Window.

After months of deliberating about switching to Government Window, I am glad we made the move. Once we decided to go with them, it was a smooth and quick transition. Any issues that have come up since the move, the customer service staff have been responsive and usually the issue is handled within hours. I just wish we had gone with Government Window sooner.
